These are the data corresponding to the publication "Leaf heat tolerance of 147 tropical forest species varies with elevation and leaf functional traits, but not with phylogeny" by Slot, Cala, Aranda, Virgo, Michaletz and Winter, published in Plant, Cell & Environment in 2021.
Samples were collected from plants growing in six regions in the Republic of Panama. Leaf discs were incubated for 15 minutes at different temperatures in a water bath, and after 24 hours the maximum over variable chlorophyll fluorescence (Fv/Fm) was measured. Species names were checked against Kew's Plants of the World database, at: http://powo.science.kew.org/
