Study Information

Abstract

This dataset contains organic matter and radiocarbon dating information for six cores from Sweet Hall Marsh in Virginia, USA. This project was a collaboration between the Virginia Institute for Marine Science, the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. Cores were collected along an established wetland transect, near three long-term SET sites, covering creek levee, inner flats, and ghost forest sites. 1 core at each SET site was collected and processed for grain size and organics, while a second core at each site was processed and analyzed for radiocarbon dating information at Chris Hein’s Sediment Lab for Gamma Analysis.
