Abstract

We determined soil carbon stocks in least-disturbed tidal marshes, seagrass meadows, and tidal forested wetlands comprising 28 sites in nine estuaries from Humboldt Bay, California to northern Washington. The dataset of 168 cores includes down-core bulk density and carbon content in subsamples from the top meter (or more) of the soil column. For each cored location, the data set also includes information on wetland surface elevation, pore water salinity, pore water pH, and dominant vegetation. This dataset accompanies the published paper Kauffman et al. (2020) in the journal Global Change Biology.
